Holy Father,
I pray not only for these,
but for those also
who through their words will believe in me.
May they all be one.
Father, may they be one in us
as you are in me and I am in you,
so that the world may believe it was you who sent me.
I have given them the glory you gave to me,
that they may be one as we are one
that the world will realise that it was you who sent me
and that I have loved them as much as much as you love me.
Father,
I want those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may always see the glory
you have given me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world.
Father, Righteous One,
the world has not known you,
but I have known you,
and these have known that you sent me.
I have made your name known to them
and will continue to make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me may be in them,
and so that I may be in them.

John 17:20-26 (CTS New Catholic)

This is one of Our Lord’s few documented prayers, next to the Lord’s Prayer and the one used in the Agony in the Garden.

TL;DR version: This is a petition for us to put aside our differences and join in a loving relationship with God…

Well, it’s worth a shot…

Some men came down from Judaea and taught the brothers, ‘Unless you have yourselves circumcised in the tradition of Moses you cannot be saved.’ This led to disagreement, and after Paul and Barnabas had had a long argument with these men it was arranged that Paul, Barnabas and others of the church should go up to Jerusalem and discuss the problem with the apostles and elders.

Acts 15:1-2 (CTS New Catholic)

I have to be completely honest with everyone, but I do get irritated by the legalism that seems to come with being religious. Worse still is that everyone seems to have their own idea of how to be religious.

Here’s a better idea: rather than get in a flap over who is right or wrong, why not discuss it? Think it over? Paul and Barnabas in the above quote did so in the first of what we Catholics refer to as the Apostolic Council!

A Message for Dragon’s Dogma Players!

May I offer a piece of advice to people who play Dragon’s Dogma (the PS3 version) and who use the online feature to share their Pawn with other players: DO NOT use the Guardian or Nexus inclination on your Pawn!

Many of the Pawns I see in the Pawn Community have one of these as their Primary Inclination, which means I have to put up with them sticking to my rear end like they have some sort of weird fixation. I would rather a Pawn who is a mage or sorcerer be able to support my party with spells or a fighter who can pick out the weakest foes.

Seriously guys, would it kill you to go and get your Pawn’s Inclination changed? You can easily do that by getting Inclination Elixirs from Jonathan at the Encampment near Cassardis.

Thank you all for your understanding.

‘Nanas! :)

Paul and Barnabas carried on from Perga till they reached Antioch in Pisidia. Here they went to the synagogue on the Sabbath and took their seats.
When the meeting broke up, many Jews and devout converts joined Paul and Barnabas, and in their talks with them Paul and Barnabas urged them to remain faithful to the grace God had given them.
The next sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the word of God. When they saw the crowds, the Jews, prompted by jealousy, used blasphemies and contradicted everything that Paul said. Then he spoke out boldly. ‘We had to proclaim the word of God to you first, but since you have rejected it, since you do not think of yourselves worthy of eternal life, we must turn to the pagans. For this is what the Lord commanded us to do when he said:
I have made you a light for the nations,
so that my salvation may reach the ends of the earth.’

Acts 13:13, 43-47 (CTS New Catholic) - Sorry for missing out on the last couple of Sundays.

This is a long overdue refutation to the opponents of some the good Christian rock bands out there - in particular, Brian “Head” Welch of Love and Death and ex-member of Korn.

One particular quote that people use against Christian rock and metal is that it’s “too dark”. Seriously, the lyrics could be all worship and praise and the people would still find the music itself “too dark”.

Clearly these bands are doing the same job that Paul is doing in the above quote, because their music is not only catching the ear of the Christians, but also the non-believers. They preach the word of God in song, but in a way that normal folk like us can understand - and with an awesome, head-banging tune too!

In closing: Our Lord gave us our talents (art, music, writing, comedy, etc) and it’s about time we use them. And if we can use them to attract a wider audience, then that’s awesome!

Unka Glen: Hearing the voice of God

unkaglen:

In John 10, Jesus said that His sheep recognize His voice, and that they will run away from a stranger, because they don’t recognize his voice. It occurs to me that the most important thing is to learn to recognize the voice of the Lord in our head, and by contrast, the voice of the enemy who…

Hey-ho, peeps! I’m reblogging this as a meditation to Our Lord, because, let’s face it - we all get voices like this in our head!
